Gear for outdoor enthusiasts.
Korppivuori is a cliff on the island of Iso-Paatsalo in Lake Puula, and the highest point on the lake. The elevation above the water surface is only 30 metres, but from the top you are treated to sweeping views over the Simpiä open waters. Korppivuori can only be reached by water, or across the ice in winter.
Korppivuori is also an outdoor equipment rental service, where you can hire a canoe or kayak to explore the nearby waterways or venture further afield. We offer kayaks and canoes for rent, with rental periods starting from one day — longer rentals of over a week are available by separate agreement. Rentals from 1–7 days can be booked through this website.
Equipment pick-up and return takes place in person in Otava, Mikkeli. By prior arrangement, equipment can also be left for self-collection in Otava or at another agreed location.
We also have tents, hammocks, camp stoves and other outdoor gear available for rent, as well as transport equipment for kayaks and canoes.
Equipment delivery to an agreed location and car shuttles are also available upon request.
We are based in Otava, Mikkeli, just a couple of kilometres from the shores of Lake Puula — making it easy to get out on the water. The nearest shores of Lake Saimaa are around 15 km away, and the lakeshores of Luonteri in Anttola are also easily accessible.
The Saarijärvi entry point and parking area at Repovesi National Park is less than 70 km away.
During the summer season — June through August — kayak and canoe rentals are also available in Ristiina, at the Varkaantaipale summer restaurant. The rental point is right by the water, with an easy 6 km paddle to the Astuvansalmi rock paintings. Available there are Gobo Molake unit kayaks and Pelican canoe 2–3 person open canoes, complete with equipment.
Please note that renting kayaks and canoes requires prior paddling experience, that you are of legal age, and that you are a confident swimmer! Similarly, renting outdoor equipment and gear requires familiarity with its safe use.
If there are minors in your group, the person renting is responsible for ensuring that any minor has a correctly sized and appropriate buoyancy aid or life jacket suited to their size, age and swimming ability.
Use of canoes and kayaks on whitewater routes requires a separate agreement and/or submission of the planned route details to the rental provider prior to the agreement. A separate agreement must also be made for taking any equipment out of Finland, i.e. for use outside Finnish borders.
